Chelsea and Napoli are currently negotiating a swap deal which will see Super Eagles of Nigeria striker, Victor Osimhen move to the Premier League club way below his release clause worth €130 million.
In exchange for Victor Osimhen, the current manager of Napoli, Antonio Conte, is reportedly interested in securing Lukaku’s services along with Chelsea’s midfielder Cesare Casadei and a significant cash sum totalling £39 million.
It’s reported that Osimhen is eager to leave Napoli, while Lukaku is looking to end his unpalatable partnership with Chelsea in this summer transfer window.
On the other hand, the newly appointed Chelsea manager, Enzo Maresca, is reportedly keen on recruiting Osimhen following the breakdown of Samu Omorodion’s £34.5 million move to Stamford Bridge.
Osimhen who scored 15 goals in Serie A last season, has expressed interest in testing his abilities in the Premier League.
While there have been discussions around potential loan swaps between the two clubs, it’s believed that Osimhen is leaning towards a permanent move to Chelsea.
Although there have been links to Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea appear to be leading the race for his signature.
The Sun claimed that if the reported swap deal were to materialize, it would represent a substantial financial loss for Chelsea who will swap two players whose combined initial cost was £114.5 million for Victor Osimhen apart from the cash they are expected to add to the swap deal.
Note that Chelsea have already spent a substantial amount in the current transfer window, with the club’s total investment in players reaching a staggering £1.114 billion since Todd Boehly became the owner of the side two years ago.
